Tobias Taylor, Chief Executive Officer
Tobias has built a successful career in banking and financial services over the last 20 years with roles in London, Wellington and Hawke’s Bay. His last role was as the national Head of Wealth Management for AdviceFirst before joining Midlands Mortgage Trust as the CEO in July 2019.
Tobias is an Authorised Financial Adviser (AFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), is a member of Financial Advice New Zealand (FANZ) and the Institute of Directors (IoD). He sits on the board of Presbyterian Support East Coast (PSEC) and is a member of their Audit and Risk Committee.
Outside of office hours Tobias enjoys surfing, coaching rugby and spending time with his family at his Central Hawke’s Bay bach.
Doug Bailey, Commercial Manager
Doug comes to Midlands Mortgage Trust from a background of audit and assurance, business analysis and commercial management. As a Chartered Accountant specialising in audit, he worked with financial advisors and financial institutions including credit unions, building societies and friendly societies. Doug grew up on a Southern Hawke’s Bay farm and subsequently on a family orchard south of Hastings. He has been back in Hawke’s Bay for over two decades and has two children born here. Doug is a Justice of the Peace and is involved in jujitsu at local, national and international levels.
Mark Hardman, Senior Loans Manager
Mark comes to Midlands Mortgage Trust from a strong background in banking and finance, having held senior positions in both New Zealand and Internationally. More recently he has owned his own finance company and is also currently the president of Hawkes Bay Debt Advisory a registered charity assisting the local community and promoting financial literacy. Mark has a postgraduate diploma in Management & Business, he enjoys Golf, reading and spending time with his family
Elliott Jackson, Investment Manager
Elliott joined Midlands in October 2019. Elliott’s primary responsibilities are to assist new and existing investors with Midlands.
Elliott comes to Midlands with over 30 years in financial services in the United Kingdom, Jersey and New Zealand. More recently, Elliott acted as the regional manager – Hawke’s Bay for Pie Funds, a well-known boutique fund manager based in Havelock North and Takapuna. Elliott and his partner is kept very busy outside of work with their two young children.
Tony Brooker, Loans Manager
After 40 years working for Westpac Bank, Tony retired from banking but missed it so much he returned, beginning his involvement with Midlands Mortgage Trust. A business banking manager for 14 years, Tony also managed both Westpac’s Hastings and Napier branches. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role, which includes analysis of loan applications and sitting on the loans committee. A proud Cantabrian, Tony and family moved to Hawke’s Bay in 1983 and now lives in Napier. In his spare time, he enjoys tramping in the hills and spending time with family and friends.

Wendy Babe, Loans Administration Supervisor and Analyst
Wendy is Midlands Mortgage Trust’s Loans Administration Supervisor and Analyst, monitoring and reporting on loans, and providing customer service. She has a background in commercial property finance and retail banking in New Zealand and overseas.
Wendy has returned home to Hawke’s Bay with her partner and daughter after ten years overseas in London and Sydney. In her spare time Wendy enjoys travelling, paddle boarding, watching and playing sports, as well as spending time with family and friends.

Jill Shipp, Loans Administration Supervisor And Analyst
Jill is stepping into to Wendy’s role until September 2020 as cover for the Loans Admin Supervisor and Analyst role, while Wendy is on Parental Leave.
Jill has spent her entire working career in the banking sector, mostly with some of the main high street banks in the UK and New Zealand, with experience in a variety of different roles, from debt recovery to complaints handling and team management. Outside of work, Jill lives in rural Hawke’s Bay with her husband and growing family of chickens, ducks and geese.

Colleen Green, Investments and Administration Officer
Colleen is our investments and administration officer and is often the voice on the phone you hear when you first call Midlands. Colleen has had a varied career in administration management and started with us in April 2018. She is very approachable, can assist with all investor enquiries and has strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Colleen has her own home in Hastings and enjoys nurturing her lovely garden. She is passionate about the ‘Hawkes Bay’ lifestyle enjoying the local Farmers Markets in particular and the variety of cycle trails in the region.

Chandar Dudding, Loans and Administration Officer
Chandar is our loans and administration officer to help out with our growing loans portfolio and the increasing workload surrounding compliance. Chandar has previously had experience in the banking sector, a local law firm and administration of the family contracting business.
She and her partner are kept busy on their lifestyle block in Otane and in raising a growing family. She enjoys speedway and motorsports outside of work and is involved in breeding horses as well as competing in equestrian events.
